Harbine Park, located south of West 8th Street, includes two lighted, hard surface tennis courts; a fenced dog park; playground equipment; two sand volleyball courts; two baseball diamonds (one with lights); swimming pool; picnic shelter; 1/4 mile track with crushed rock; horseshoe pits for men and women; and public restrooms. Overnight camping is available with electric outlets, water, sewer and charcoal grills. RV dump station is location on West 8th Street.Hunting
Wildlife in the area includes: pheasant, quail, rabbit, duck, geese, turkey, deer, bobcat, coyote, and prairie dog. Trapping includes: raccoon, fox, muskrat, mink, beaver, bobcat, and coyote.Fishing
Lovewell Lake, located in Kansas, includes a marina; public access boating; boat docks; cabins for rent; cabin area; and public restrooms. Fishing includes: walleye, white bass, largemouth bass, croppies, catfish, wiper, northern pike, and bullheads.Golf
Elk Creek Country Club, located on the south edge of Nelson, is a nine-hole golf course that was formerly a sand greens course, but converted to nova grass artificial greens in 1994. No tee times are needed and the course is open to the public. Green fees are $10 for unlimited play on any weekday and on weekends and holidays.Swimming Pool
The Nelson swimming pool is open from June 1st to August 15th. Hours of operation are from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Seasonal fees are: single - $60 and family - $120.
